MY FEAR

I curse curiosity
Oblivion far better
A dream
I'd choose repeatedly
A coward i am
For reality too monstrous

Prescription you honour
sustainability, for how long
Through my fingers you slip
Each day a night mare
Nature takes it's course
Death inevitable

Questions gnaw me
why
But i dread the answers
what if:
for me
I drove you to it
I wont live with myself
In silence i suffer

Seizing the moments
Memories so dear
Vowing Never
succumb to this virus
One that orphans me
Mercilessly
My heart crushed
I could never hate you

A day will come
I'll bid thee farewell
Locked in the closet
My fears
I smile
Overflowing with love
Living for today
The creator holds tomorrow

Today I have to acknowledge  the great help put in by a person I've come to call a friend and also my editor, Mr. Theodore Onyango. I sure appreciate his time that he puts aside to read my work and more so his pieces of advice that he offers me for free.

Liz.

  2. Alluring, engaging, intense, hopeful ... I love it.

    My favorite lines are:
    "I smile
    Overflowing with love
    Living for today
    The creator holds tomorrow"

We need to be reminded that love -- the love prescribed by God -- destroys any foe that comes before us. We just have to move out our own way. Thank you for this poem.

I know I made this comment somewhere before, but I must post it here as well. We will refer to you as Poet Liz or Liz the Poet. Either way, your are incredible.

Flo and I are blessed to communicate with you and learn from you. I am sure Mr. Onyango would agree.

  4. Hello, Mr. Onyango! Likewise, you have made my day.

The only thing greater than Liz's writing is the bond that writing and music create for me, Liz, and Flo. I remain utterly fascinated that random tweets about our favorite singer, Mario Barrett, transformed into a motivation to embrace our devotation to writing and sisterhood. So, if you have had the honor of working with Liz and helping her, you are truly blessed for writing goes beyond words to literally feeds our souls.

Again, thank you for posting a comment, Mr. Onyango!

  5. Thank you too Ted. You helped me a lot with my writing and am always grateful:-)

Shells, I lack words to express my gratitude. You and Flo are the bestest... (Nicki's voice) lol
